The Rio Grande Colonias USDA Regional Food Business Center is tasked with supporting small and mid-sized farmers and food businesses in Texas and New Mexico in three key areas: coordination, technical assistance, and capacity building. Technical Assistance
The Rio Grande Colonias Regional Food Business Center provides direct business technical assistance to small and mid-sized food and farm businesses (producers, processors, distributors, and other businesses within the food supply chain) and food value and supply chain coordination.

Coordination
The Rio Grande Colonias USDA Regional Food Business Center acts as a regional hub that facilitates collaborations across Texas, New Mexico, and the surrounding region. The Center works with local partners to support public-private partnerships, including technical assistance and access to resources that serve the specific needs of small and mid-sized farmers and food businesses in our service area.
The Center will accomplish the following through our coordination efforts:
- Help clients navigate federal, state, and local/regional funding opportunities
- Help clients navigate government and local/regional resources
- Cultivate opportunities for client networking and peer-to-peer collaboration
- Strengthen and develop connections amongst clients of the Center and between external entities which enhance the regional food systems in TX & NM
